Shows and Events

In addition to making Festivals, Parades, Solstices, Grand Openings, Anniversaries, Film Fests, Fashion Shows, Celebrations, Concerts, and Benefits even more special, we also create and adapt stories for our Puppet Productions.

OM Theatre has been performing for all ages since 2011. Here are some past shows:

A Song for Each Cup - Our first show in 2011. We used giant puppets, shadow puppetry, bun raku puppets, and other eclectic mask and puppet work with narration, drumming, and singing. Our cups overflowed with gratitude that night.

One City, Two Brothers - Heard in mosques, temples, and churches, this well known folktale as a beautiful story of reconciliation and heart in Jerusalem. Hand Puppets and narration.

Yin Li’s Lantern - A New Year’s tale from China that reminds us of the importance of thinking of others. Traditional shadow puppetry with lyre accompaniment.

Our Hands Can!- Performed at the Sustainable Settings’ Harvest Fest. A myriad of animal mask on stilts, marionette birds, giant puppets banners, banjo’s create a puppet revolution inspiring change in how we eat and where our food comes from. http://sustainablesettings.org/

Green is the New Black Fashion Show - We love partnering with Carbondale Arts for this amazing benefit to raise money for art in our local schools. Past performances included Giant LED puppets, giant humanesque and animal puppets, a stilt walking scarecrow, and rhythm choreography. https://www.carbondalearts.com/events/fashion-show/

CoMotion Dance Company - We also love partnering with the incredibly beautiful movers of CoMotion in Carbondale, CO to blend puppetry with dance. .http://www.danceinitiative.org

Mama Panya’s Pancakes - We partnered with students from Roaring Fork High School and worked for 2 months to create the marionettes for this story from Kenya about sharing what we have, even if it doesn’t seem like much. All the proceeds benefited a lunch program for children at the Kafunda School in Kenya.

The Sweetest Goodest Song - A traditional African American tale about staying true to oneself, especially when one ventures beyond the gate. Giant Masks, marimbas, and animal puppets. This and the following 3 performances were in partnership with the 5 Point Film Festival and were performed for audiences of 600+ people. https://5pointfilm.org/

RiverSong - An original OM creation that explores what might happen when everyone forgets to listen to the river - well, almost everyone. Giant masks, giant birds, marimba

The Man Who Planted Trees, by Jean Giono - an adaptation choreographed with shadow puppets on an old-school overhead projector with a mask-wearing cellist. This story is also known as The Man Who Planted Hope and Grew Happiness.

The Blind Man and the Hunter - He sees with his ears, and he hears with… his heart. A traditional tale from Africa. Giant Masks, Projection, Giant Birds, Marimbas

La Befana - A traditional Holiday story from Italy of an old woman and her journey to find the star child but ends up finding so much more. Masks, giant reindeer angel puppets, marionettes, shadow puppetry, 4 part harmonies, live music and dance. This and the performance below was in partnership with the Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork. www.waldorfschoolrf.com

Once Upon a Winter Solstice - The white horse gallops through the dreams of children but her main job is to brings back the sun on the Winter Solstice. People look East and quietly revel in awe of the return of the light. Singing, Candlelight, giant horse puppet, masks, and narration.
